The
Dachshund is a crowd favorite due to its easily recognizable “hotdog”
appearance of short legs and a long body. This breed is friendly and
happy, often considered “clown-like.” The Dachshunds here are
miniatures, around 10 pounds full-grown. There are three possible coat
types; short and smooth, long-haired, and wired-haired. Grooming depends on the coat, long-haired and wired-haired will require more grooming than short haireds. Dachshunds
compact size is perfect for apartments or people looking for a small
dog. A common nickname is Doxie (singular) or Doxies (plural). For more
