Pomeranians are petite beauties. Proper, clean, and independent, they make excellent companion pets. Despite their independent nature, they are affectionate, loving, and caring. Their greatest concern will always be their owner.  They are toy sized, growing to be around 3 to 8 pounds. They are active, lively, and playful.

Their petite size makes them well suited for apartment living. This breed needs minimal exercise. Most daily exercise will be received from running around the house. Daily walks may be needed if animal seems bored. Do not over exercise a small breed of dog.

Pomeranians can be trained fairly easily and enjoy performing tricks. As most canines, they need a firm and patient trainer. They can make good watch dogs. However, be wary of vocal expression. With proper training barking should not be a problem.  

As can be seen from pictures below, Pomeranians have thick heavy coats. Regular brushing is required. Bathe only when needed. They have an undercoat that will shed twice a year. Beyond this, the coat will constantly shed at a normal rate.

Pomeranians can live as long as 15 years.
