The Yorkshire Terrier is a lovable and spunky toy
breed. Yorkies tend to be more intelligent than many other toy breeds, but their
willful attitude can make training more difficult. All Yorkies are born black
and tan; they usually lighten up to a beautiful blue and gold, silver and gold, blue and tan, or silver and tan. Some do remain black and tan or black and gold as adults. Their
long and silky coats will need extensive grooming if the owner chooses to maintain a long coat ('show coat'). A
shorter puppy cut will greatly reduce the amount of grooming required.This breed has a long tradition of
companionship and being carried around in wealthy women’s purses.Their average life span is 12 to 15 years.
